Not Naming Names ... but Happy Umpteenth!

Nope!  Not naming any names for this one ... but ... you know who you are!
Or surely you know someone coming up on an "umpteenth" ... i.e. who's counting anyway birthday!

Quick post today ... I've spent most of my awake time over the past 20 hours in search of an elusive "S" die from my Little Letters Thinlits set.  Sweet downline + sideline peeps have given me some great search ideas, including searching with a huge magnet ... which I've done.  Still, I'm losing this episode of Hide & Seek.  But it isn't over until I say it's over ...To be continued!

I totally love the rich colors of the Bohemian designer series papers ... and this bitty pattern is one of my faves from the collection.  It reminds me just a little of the Native American head dresses I used to see at Pow Wow's in NW Oklahoma ... rich, earthy colors.

The Vintage Leaves are so so easy to stamp then die cut with the coordinating Leaflets set.  And, to create the sentiment, I just stamped it once with Rich Razzleberry ink, then again with Crushed Curry ink and cut out the "Umpteenth" banner and adhered it atop the R. Razzleberry badge with Dimensionals.  The Deco Labels framelits are perfect for the Oh My Goodies stamps.  That teeny bit of gold behind the sentiment badge?  That's the Gold Metallic Thread found in the full-sized catalog.  I'll list everything needed below my signature for your convenience.

If you enjoy keeping a stash of cards ready to go when needs arise, you'll enjoy creating a few of these ... maybe in varied colors for a few choices. The sentiment and +++++ decorative line are both from the Tin of Cards stamp set shown on page 110 in the main catalog. Yes, it coordinates with the Tin of Cards project kit, but it stands alone as a very versatile stamp set for sure.

Did you think the English Garden designer series paper is just for Spring? Not! That's the beauty of this double-sided 12"x12" collection ... it spreads much farther across the calendar. Blooms may have shriveled during the Summer, but earthy colors are still in style!  I've used it with Old Olive and Night of Navy card stocks, with a helping of texture from the Arrows Textured Impressions embossing folder.  A trio of Candy Dots finish it off for "no extra postage" mailing ease.

Pinking It Up!

Here's my latest card for the Hope You Can Cling To challenges at Splitcoaststampers!  My fabby fun friend, LuvLee - a.k.a. Lee Murphy's challenge is to use the word PINKALICIOUS.  Now take any of the letters from that word to create words that apply to your creation!  Gosh .. no pressure here, huh?!  LOL

Well, having just returned from an amazing stamping retreat over the weekend, my card shares true inspiration from the inky fun we had in retreat classes.  Take a look .. ...

The words from PINKALICIOUS that apply here are:
  • pink
  • silk (ribbon ...dyed pink with Melon Mambo re-inker)
  • skin .... 'cuz the skin on my fingers is totally pink now!!

I love this sentiment from the 'Bravo' stamp set!  It brings a message to cancer patients who have just endured a dreaded procedure, just made it through another round of chemo, just faced a needle again that scares them or hurts like crazy, just got out of bed to face another day ... ... the possibilities go on and on.
~
~
A fabby shimmer is visible in person with this card, but it was pretty elusive to the camera today, even in natural light.  A teeny bit is showing in the sentiment closeup.   Shimmery White card stock is one of my all-time fave card stocks ... and the shimmer is unbeatable.  Much more understated than glitter, but so smooth and yummy for the eyes.  Try it out in your next order ... you can't help but adore the look and feel.  Plus, it is lovely with inking techniques and coloring atop ... the shimmer comes right through!

The inking technique is from my trusty SU Spritzer and Color Burst Powders.  Loved this spritz technique from retreat, and just "had" to use it for this challenge!  I'll include a complete list of Stampin' Up! products below with quick links for your shopping convenience.

Thank you so very much for choosing me as your Stampin' Up! demonstrator!  And guess what!  If you order this stamp set between October 19 - 23 ... stamps are 15% off!

**If you have a wish list that's overflowing ... please consider joining my team!  I welcome happy discount shoppers as well as "dye-hard" stampers alike!  Call me, email me ... ask bunches of questions ... I'm tickled to answer any time.

Annnnnd .... if you're thinking about visiting Texas in November ... or if you're already here ... please join me and Lydia Fiedler in a stampin' day at the Hyatt Regency - Dallas on Friday, November 13!  Click right here for the scoop and to secure your seat with your RSVP today!

Pick Your Pinked Transportation!

~
~

Have you been participating in the annual Hope You Can Cling To challenges over at Splitcoaststampers?

~
Consider joining in this fun & wonderful outpouring of our handmade cards being sent throughout October to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX.  Daily challenges are presented to whet your creativity, and you get the added pleasure of packaging up your creations to be used by the cancer patients and their attending families while they are battling all kinds of cancer.

HYCCT1511 Challenge is themed, "Can I Get a Ride?"
Create a card that features a mode of transportation.  Any transportation ... cars, bicycles, trains ... even if it would not be realistic to use on the way to chemo.   Here's my challenge card ... meant to bring a giggle or two to whoever chooses to use it.

This one features the darling single stamp set, If the Broom Fits from the Holiday Catalog.  When I read this challenge, I knew exactly which set I wanted to use.  {hee here hee}

The brooms were stamped with Stampin' Up!'s new Archival Black ink, then colored with Stampin' Write markers.  The fourth broom was emphasized by coloring it with Melon Mambo, rather than the Blushing Bride as used on the others.  A second broom was colored, fussy cut, then popped up on Dimensionals for a little brighter, blinged-up option.

Fringe Scissors provided easy texture to the ends of my sentiment strips.  A little direct-to-paper inking adds just a touch of Melon Mambo color.  I hope you like it!

Tex's Tip:  Consider making + sending some of these to your girlfriends, sisters, and/or co-workers as their reminder to do their annual mammogram!

Any Texas stampers out there?  Are there Wanna-be Texas stampers out there?

We've got a super-fun stampin' shindig for you in Dallas, TX, on Friday the 13th of November!  Stamp with Lydia Fiedler & me at our Mini Retreat at the Hyatt Regency in Dallas.

*** Check it out here, and reserve your seat today ... ***

then just bring your stamp kit and stamp the day away with us in Dallas!

Hope to stamp with you in Dallas!

Sharing the Christmas Stampin' Fun!

We stamped the weekend away here in the studio!  Last fabby guests were driving out the driveway at 8:15 p.m.  There are now 80+ new Christmas cards are ready for addresses and stamps.  If you weren't here for this one, you're invited to the next Christmas Stamp-A-Stack coming up on Saturday, November 21.

The weekend's Christmas Stamp-A-Stacks both featured the beautiful Wonderland stamp set, and this particular new technique card was created by everyone across the day, in all classes:

The Wonderland stamp set was a natural choice for me ... I adore florals and foliage, whether forest-like or tropical.  Plant life truly one of God's most beautiful creations.

Here's how to reproduce this look at your stampin' table!

  • All inking is done inside the open embossing folder. Using the side with the flat areas between tree trunks facing up where you feel the flat areas, ink that area directly with your Soft Sky ink pad. You could brayer it, but there's really no need to bother.
  • Then ink your trees image with your chosen green ink, and stamp that right on top of the still-open embossing folder, next to the hinged area. If you want more than 3 trees, wipe of that green ink with a paper towel before reinking the stamp ... so you won't contaminate your Mossy Meadow green with the blue from the sky.
  • Place the card stock into your Big Shot plates sandwich carefully, without moving it around. Roll it through your Big Shot.
  • Voila! Enjoy!
  • Ideas - Experiment with color blends for your sky, or
  • Try more than one color for the forest to create a sense of depth.

The sentiments within this set feature a truly beautiful font as seen on this banner, accented with a snowflake punched from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.  'Silent Night' was stamped with Early Espresso ink in keeping with the earthy forest feeling of the card.  Never fear ... I'll include a complete list of supplies at the bottom of the post for your convenience.

"Fabby Stampin' Fun" happening here!  Mom + daughter creating together ... and I can hardly wait until we all stamp again!  I so enjoy the fun of stamping + sharing with wonderful peeps!

A Little Bit Woodsy & Two-Topic Thursday!

Two-Topics Today .... i.e.  Two-Topic Thursday!

Ahhhhhhhhhhh!
It's actually 'feeling' like the beginning of Fall here on my little spot on the planet!

Even though I don't get the beautiful color transitions seen in more northerly states, the morning & evening temps have slid down the thermometer just enough to bring out the audible "Ahhhhh's" from many of us here in the northern part of Texas.  (I can't actually speak for those lucky peeps farther South in TX ... ... .)

Vintage Leaves is one of favorite stamp sets.  If you haven't had a chance to play with it in a class, or have been on the fence about ordering it ...  ...  Well, in my opinion, you've been missing out.  Trust me on this one.

I really enjoy pairing the Vintage Leaves with the new 6"X6" Woodland Textured Impressions Embossing Folder!  I don't live in a wooded area ... far from it here in the plains.  However, I adore woodsy, forest-like places full of texture, earthy scents, and creature habitats.  Thus, it was a natural for me to scoop up both of these items.

The coordinating Leaflets Framelits Dies make it so easy to whip up a cluster of leaves for your projects.  I tied these together with a bit of Linen Thread ... another earthy, natural element I keep on hand at all times.   Brayer a little Crumb Cake ink over the raised tree trunks after using the Big Shot ... and this card is ready for sharing.  Use whatever sentiment you need to suit the occasion!  I've used 'Just For You' from the Floral Wings set ... versatility indeed!

and Topic #2 ... ...
Are you ready for some real, live stampin' fun?!
