Blackberry Iris Eclipse

Today's card was created for one of the recent Dare to Get Dirty challenges over at Splitcoaststampers.  This was a brand new-to-me technique, completely inspired by the following Gina K Designs video:

If you haven't tried this technique, put it on your stamping plans and give it a try!

I chose a retired Iris panel stamp from Rubbernecker Stamps, and opted to use a rich blackberry color rather than the black & white shown on the tutorial.  The choice of cover plate die determines the texture you'll see given to the stamped image.   My card features a cover plate die by Momenta.  Depending on your stamp and cover die choices, your result can vary from casual to elegant!

Thanks so much for your visit!  I hope you've been inspired to enjoy some creative time!

Hugs & Glitz

There's a good bit of 'me' in today's card, and a whole lotta my granddaughter.  Why?  Because it's pink and glitzy!

That's not even mentioning how easy it is to make.  Just use Pixie spray to hold the new 'Curvy Rays' stencil in place while you spread the glitzy gel across your cut-to-size card stock.  Gently pull the stencil away in one smooth motion from top-to-bottom or diagonally from corner-to-corner as you wish.  Then set it aside to dry.  I like to leave these overnight when possible, but that's likely not necessary.

  I cut the 'hugs' from black and silver foiled card stocks.  For the shadow effect, I layered them just slightly askew, using tiny dots of glue on the touch points.  The trickiest part of all was trimming foam tape pieces to be super skinny for lifting it just above the glitz.  {whew!}

Keep Calm & Behave Yourself!

Today's card is a combination of something old plus something new!  Not only is this an image of a 1950's Corvette, but it's also a  Rubbernecker rubber stamp that I've had since 2009.

That 'aging' works well for the Retro Rubber Challenge #109!  As such, it's well past time to bring it out to play on the stampy table again.  Takes one right back to those vintage "beach" movies from the 1960's ... Vroom-vroom!

I love the sense of bold forward motion given by the new 'Mid Century Boomerangs' stencil from A Colorful Life Designs.  Silver Embossing Paste was applied through the stencil for the horizontal metallic + black strip.  Tex's Tip:  When using a texture paste, be sure to wash your stencil right away to easily remove the paste from the stencil.  Soaking in a tray of water will be helpful if a sink isn't readily handy.

Next I lightly brushed gray ink onto the central area of the white card layer.  Although this layer adds no texture, it does continue the visual flow & direction.

Finally it's all topped off with a cool, single sentiment from Technique Junkies, easily placed with my Misti positioner.  The windshield is shiny & dimensional with Glossy Accents and a Gelly Pen gives a metallic look to the 'chrome' elements.
Ready, set, Vroom-vroom!

Iris "hugs"!

Time to add some color to this week!  OMGosh ... this gray & dreary stuff is getting rough on those of us who need a little sunshine in our days!  (If that's you, "Welcome" to the club.)

My intended color palette had to morph a couple of times due to some AWOL acrylic paints.  In reality, it looks like I scanned my closet & chose the focus color.   lol

The stenciled background was created with the beautiful 'Chain Weave' stencil from A Color Life Designs.  It was so easy to create, simply braying acrylic paint atop my Gelli plate.

I colored the Iris from Rubbernecker Stamps to coordinate with the background ... Sort of seems like reverse order of color selection, doesn't it?  Rubbernecker's  'hugs' die was layered to create a bit of a shadow effect, and an old splatter stamp was used to lightly fill in the white space with a soft yellow.

I hope you like it!  I know I'll enjoy sending it to a special friend who brought me bunches of smiles recently.
