Dare To Get Dirty 2023!

 It's coming, stampy friends!

The annual SCS Dare To Get Dirty challenges will be here next month!

Hugs & Glitz

There's a good bit of 'me' in today's card, and a whole lotta my granddaughter.  Why?  Because it's pink and glitzy!

That's not even mentioning how easy it is to make.  Just use Pixie spray to hold the new 'Curvy Rays' stencil in place while you spread the glitzy gel across your cut-to-size card stock.  Gently pull the stencil away in one smooth motion from top-to-bottom or diagonally from corner-to-corner as you wish.  Then set it aside to dry.  I like to leave these overnight when possible, but that's likely not necessary.

  I cut the 'hugs' from black and silver foiled card stocks.  For the shadow effect, I layered them just slightly askew, using tiny dots of glue on the touch points.  The trickiest part of all was trimming foam tape pieces to be super skinny for lifting it just above the glitz.  {whew!}

Fishing You Were Here!

Yaaaaaay!   It's one of my favorite stamping weeks of the year!   The annual Dare to Get Dirty (DTGD) challenges have begun at Splitcoaststampers!  DTGD is a special challenge week presented as a bonus to SCS Fan Club members.  Come join in the fun!

My card today is for my sweet friend Kittie's challenge, DTGD19kittie747.

I was eager to play with the new 'Splash' and 'Beach Waves' stencils from A Colorful Life designs.  Psssst!  Use code BevFan10 for a discount when shopping for your stencils!  I love the way these stencils create the look of watery fun, especially now that I've paired them with the 'Fin-tastic Friends' stamps by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps.

The 'Splash' stencil was used to create the primary background of this card.  I blended Distress Inks with Life Changing Brushes ... so easy & fun!   The 'Beach Waves' stencil was used atop blended inks for the mini scenes throughout my card.

Believe it or not, I haven't used all of the images in the super-fun stamp set ... there are even more!

I created this by making 2 Z-folds, then affixing them together.  I'll add a view from the top to help you visualize the Z's.

Don't worry ... you won't get the zzzzzzz's when creating with this fun design.

Thanks a bunch for your visit and your comments!  I'll be back by Tuesday with another sample created for the DTGD challenges.

Just Ducky Spring!

Taking a little bit of a leap by moving out of my comfort zone with today's card.  One of my favorite friends of many years is in her natural zone with creating scenes for her cards ... and I normally just admire from afar.  Inspired by the SCS MIX329 Mixability challenge, my card needed to include a scene.   Ready - Set ---

First, I masked the fun pond shape with 'Schmancy Ovals' Marvelous Masks and blended Distress Oxide Faded Jeans + Broken China before lightly misting with water.  Tex's Tip:  Cover the card front with the same mask while misting, to prevent the other areas from getting wet.

Next, I covered the inked area with the solid cut-out portion of the masks set before filling the outer area with the 'Interlocking Leaves' stencil from A Colorful Life Designs.

I brought out darling 'Spring Has Sprung' set from Gina K.  I've had this since its release in 2010!  Isn't it sweet?  For shrubs, I snipped some foliage dies into smaller sizes.  The 'ground' was die cut with a border die, then painted with brown & cream acrylic paints.  Once dry, I scuffed the edge with scissors for some texture.  The grass border easily grounds everything.

Hmmmm .... I think I'll return to a more comfy-to-me stampy style for the next creation.  However, it really is good to stretch yourself creatively every now & then.  ðŸ˜‰

Razzleberry Garden Sugarplums March In!

Hello everyone!   Welcome to March, 2018.   Dare I say it ... we're finally getting closer to Spring!  Here in North Texas, the ground is saturated from recent constant rains ... and this girl is past ready to get some sunshine to replace the gray, gray, oh yes ... more gray days.

Today's card started with a nudge from the Color Challenge at Splitcoaststampers, 'Razzleberry Garden Sugarplums'.  I haven't used that combo before, and being the fan of Rich Razzleberry that I am, I quickly plucked out a sample swatch of each color.   Theme = set.

It's easy to create little floral bouquets with the blooms in the Cake Soiree stamp set, and the coordinating Sweet Cake Framelits include so many dies for flowers and foliage that the versatility is really extended for the entire bundle.  When first looking at the stamps in the Occasions catalog, you might think it's only for weddings, anniversaries, and special birthdays.  Nope ... not at all!

'Thinking of You' is from the Heartfelt Blooms stamp set, which is just one of the Saleabration choices  available through March 31.  And finally, the 'Ruffled' Dynamic Textured Impressions folder adds an easy feminine touch to the Sweet Sugarplum layer.  I'll include a list of products below for easy shopping.

I appreciate your Stampin' Up! business, and am always happy to answer your questions.  Click here to email any time!

Snow ... in Hawaii?? Snow Way!

You either read the news or heard the news, didn't you?  There is snow falling in Hawaii!
And they expect perhaps a foot of snow?  Really?

That's the sort of news that almost makes one wonder if they're really awake, or if that new coffee flavor has an ooky-spooky side effect!
Even though I'm actually in personal Christmas card making mode, shopping, and all that jazz, I wanted to play along in the FS516 challenge at Splitcoaststampers.  Congrats to scrapaholic007 (Shannon)!  This darling little penguin in the Snow Place stamp set is so cute and the matching framelits dies are totally easy to match with the shapes for cutting.  The only coloring required was on his little feet and beak.  A few bitty seconds with an aqua pen and the Delightful Dijon ink pad and penguin is ready to play in the snow!

I inked up just the top two words of one of the sentiments and cut the words apart to create the word tags.  Partial inking of stamps is so easy when you use the 1" uninked ink pads to create little ink pads in the specific colors you need.  (Naturally these little pads are a perfect travel size when you take your stampy fun along to a retreat or hotel for any reason you're going to be away from your regular supplies.)  Keep thinking "Christmas" .... Now, can you name the dsp I've used on this clean 'n simple creation?

***Remember to check out our Year-End Closeouts while your favorites are sale priced!  Some items are 'while supplies last' ... so check early if you've had your heart set on a certain something.  ;)
Have a sweet new week, everyone!
