Back to the Butterfly

Here in Texas, Fall still includes butterflies, and more will soon be passing through as they travel to more southerly destinations.  A few days ago, I watched a large & beautiful butterfly seemingly dancing across the area. Alas, my flowers stopped blooming in the high temps of July and August, so it's likely that blooming weeds now provide the nectar to sustain beautiful fluttering creatures.

Remember those wonderful "Butterflies" Thinlits dies we all loved using during the early Spring months?  Well, I felt the "need" to revisit an old layout that features the largest butterfly die, but kept it more in tune with the new season.

For the purists out there ... you're right.
I skipped "stamping" for this one.  Not by actual "intent", but I do enjoy using word thinlits, and this has the added self-bonus of letting me quickly indulge self in creating just a little floral dimension.

This has a fun look with the large butterfly opening ... but it's super-easy.  Just center the largest butterfly thinlit on your top-most layer of card stock.  Run it through your Big Shot, then add the texture to the opened layer with your choice of embossing folder.  I chose the Decorative Dots folder as it doesn't have a "directional" texture.  Now you might find yourself using a few more Stampin' Dimensionals to hold up this layer, but it's worth it for the added lift.  The Bohemian designer series paper was cut 1/8" smaller than the Delightful Dijon top layer, and adhered directly to the Rich Razzleberry card base.

That easy-peasy flower?  That's quickly layered using 2 of the Flower Fair Thinlits dies, and the floral punch from the Itty Bitty Accents punch pack.  Check below for the complete list of Stampin' Up! supplies used for this card.  Even if you do not have the Butterfly Basics stamp set that coordinates with the Butterfly Thinlits ... you can still enjoy creating butterflies, and time you get that little fluttery urge!

Pssssssssst!   Have you checked into our Dallas UNWIND Mini Retreat details yet?  We still have spaces for more stampers to join us at the Hyatt Regency Dallas in November!  Check it out, reserve your spot, and join us for some delightful stamping fun!

Inky (((hugggsss)))!
